Headlines not Worthy MSM (Tuesday, March 29, 2005)

It has been reported that a businessman Van Anraat also known to the public as “Dutch Chemical Ali” has been arrested and held in jail in Holland.
He is accused of flogging lethal non-conventional weapons to not-so-powerful-anymore Iraqi leader-executioner Saddam Hussein.
I’d say let the man go free you cannot charge a bloke for selling harmless WMD, which cannot be found anywhere anyway.
You’ll find more about Mr Van Anraat’s civil rights violation HERE.

I am sure Nancy Powell, former U.S. Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, had 1001 good reasons for refusing to distribute materials in Pakistan advertising America’s $25 million reward for information about Mr. bin Laden’s whereabouts.
Is it why most of the information about Ms. Powell (a career diplomat) disappeared from the Internet?
Never mind, you can still access it form the cache (hurry it won’t last).

The official Chinese communist rag China View urges vigilance against “Taiwan independence” secessionist forces.
My advice to the Taiwanese government is:
Surrender the island to its rightfull owner – Japan and watch China’s next move.

Meanwhile even the French communists are lamenting that French is losing its importance as the Lingua Franca of Europe.
Personally, I’d don’t understand the issue, as long as the workers of the world unite, the language shouldn’t matter.
Not so, says Françoise Ploquin of Le Monde Diplomatique.

“THERE is something disconcerting about hearing a French person ask for directions in Florence, Seville or Coimbra in English. Or hearing a native Spanish or Portuguese speaker do the same in Paris. It ignores the family relationship between the languages of southern Europe and Latin America, all of which are descended from Latin. It is not only desirable but possible to establish mutual (…)”

In Turkey the Western culture is finally making some big impact as Mein Kampf becomes the No. 1 bestseller:

Clerks in Turkish bookstores now have an unusual problem: In Turkey as in the rest of the world, best-sellers are usually put in the front window for passersby to see, but this time they are somewhat hesitant. Copies of the new edition of Hitler’s Mein Kampf are being snatched off the shelves, and now the question is whether anti-Semitism is on the rise in Turkey or people are just curious .”

That Nancy Powell fiasco is just too much. What was she thinking? I didn’t know that her info has been squireled away though.

My site is pain today. So I will answer here. I hope you don’t mind. We have 1,000,000 people a month crossing our border. Our security is cosmetic. Basically to keep the honest man honest. That sort of thing.

“Basically to keep the honest man honest”
It looks like a suicidal policy to me.

“What was she thinking?”
From what I could gather she is a “pro” diplomat and Bush personally fired her (too late it appears).

Our border security is a travesty. We need to tighten things up like yesterday.

It is suicidal. Maybe litteraly. It is basically wide open for terrorist to cross and there have been reports saying as much.
