This is great!

Posted by: Patrick   in Freedom, Patrick

This is one of the best things I have seen in years. This type of song is not uncommon in the US, but I know of very few (actually I know of almost none) from an Australian perspective. Although this is not my type of music as a rule, I hope it goes to #1.

Oh yeah, I got this from Andrew Bolt, who got it from Andrew Landeryou.

Please get me a copy of this song, I love it and am sending it on to my nephew in the AIF and friends who are Vietnam Veterans. I will find out if I can send it in a hero gram to our troops in Iraq. There is hope for us yet.

Hi Beth, thanks for visiting. That Seawitch, she’s a champion.

I must admit I had never heard of her before, country music is not really my thing. However I have bought the album and (most of) it is very good. I suprised myself by enjoying it. Maybe I’m gettin old?

Great song. This American was touched by the words in her song and saddened to know that so many of his countrymen do not believe this war is rightious and necessary. Our American diggers are fighting for our way of life against and evil ideology and the media and politicians are undermining their efforts for selfish reasons. Thanks for the song and message.

Yes it is an amazing song. I think this one reaches out past the “country” audience.

Rhino, five stars!! High praise indeed.

Geo, Thank you so much for listening and commenting.

Jerry, it sure is an emotional peice.

I heard this song this morning on a conservative talk show here in Seattle. I saw the youtube video when I got to the office and it brought tears to my eyes. Not just for the emotion that Beccy must have felt, but for all of our troops, Diggers, GI’s and Tommies, fighting for what’s right. That, and knowing we’ve got friends down under. Our media would have us Yanks believe that we’re fighting a losing war, and fighting it alone, but we’re not alone.

Thanks…

Very moving. I love it.

Note to Tony and other Americans: you are not alone: Canadian Prime Minister Harper is a welcome change since January. Thanks to Americans for your leadership and sacrifices.
This story is not as moving as Beccy’s song but it is good news on the Afghanistan front.

G’day all. Sorry, but I’m from the US, and have always wanted to say that.

Thanks for turning us on to this sweet lady. Her song is heartfelt. And she is proud of your “Diggers”. We too, are proud of your men and boys, and the ladies, too. Thanks for being there with us.

We don’t have to agree on everything, and yeah, we get our steam up sometimes. But we are glad to have you as friends and allies.

God Bless America, I pray every night for all of the allied troops fighting for democracy in the Middle East and shed tears everytime one is killed. Zehad an Iraqi dentist on the blog Healing Iraq got it right two years ago when he said and I quote “the only thing the Allied Forces have done wrong is not to send Sadam back to kill another 200,000/300,000 of us because that is what we deserve for the way we are treating our liberators”, note that he calls our troops LIBERATORS.

Here is an extract for our American friends from Healing Iraq written by Zeyad, don’t despair, we have friends out there.

“I have to admit that until now I have never longed for the days of Saddam, but now I’m not so sure. If we need a person like Saddam to keep those rabid dogs at bay then be it. Put Saddam back in power and after he fills a couple hundred more mass graves with those criminals they can start wailing and crying again for liberation. What a laugh we will have then. Then they can shove their filthy Hawza and marji’iya up somewhere else. I am so dissapointed in Iraqis and I hate myself for thinking this way. We are not worth your trouble, take back your billions of dollars and give us Saddam again. We truly ‘deserve’ leaders like Saddam”.

Thank you for this song Australia!

I am an American and went to Melbourne last year on vacation, err ‘Holiday’ :D and loved every minute of it. It really was strange that being in Australia was very much like being home in America. I look forward to going back down under again soon – maybe someplace smaller, like adelaide or maybe a far as perth.

Hi Tony! Thanks for visiting. I myself am very proud of Beccy. She is a great role model.

Dwayne, Gidday mate! :D

Hi Gary! I am glad you liked our city. Melbourne is a nice city. If you ever get back here, leave us a comment. My wife (a fellow American) and I would love to shout you a beer.

“Shout you a beer.”

Now that’s a great saying. I’m totally stealing it… whatever it means. Also, this is a great song – I can’t see it getting much radio success outside of Oz, which is unfortunate. A positive, uplifting song such as this deserves all the success it can get.

Thank God for the diggers and all who fight for freedom . And thank God for Beccy Cole and her beautiful song. We here in America sometimes think we’re alone in this fight, but we are not. Australia has always been a pillar of strength in the fight for the right, and Beccy Cole is a great Aussie patriot for standing up for the diggers. I’ll be buying her albums in support of her and looking for her poster to put up on my wall.

She is really wonderful. Never heard of her until last night when Jerry Agar, radio host on WABC in New York, mention her story, and played the first verse, of this heroin.

Joseph J. O’Brien Jr. Thanks for listening! Everyone I have spoken to here is very proud of Beccy even if country is not their musical like. I suspect even the lady herself may have been suprised by the response to her song.

Beautiful song, and singer, very powerful message that is wonderfully sang. It’s great to see pride in a country and believe in something greater than self. To place this song and singer in the same mention as Jane Fonda is a travesty of morals, Fonda should be in Jail, Beccy Cole should be national known as a tremendously gifted singer and a lady of honor. Beccy Cole can be a poster on my wall as long as I live.
My thanks to all the Aussie’s that serve.

I am a former US Army Medical Officer, having spent 11 years taking care of soldiers and their families. Part of that time was spent in Port au Prince, Haiti where I had the opportunity to provide medical care for soldiers from all over the world. I still am very proud of my time spent serving my country and those who believe that freedom costs and can cost everything we have. God Bless Beccy for this beautiful song honoring our brave men and women putting their all on the line.

Beautiful EH? Hi from Canada. I will be searching for Beccy Cole’s album up here in the great white north. A very moving tribute. Canadian ‘Diggers’ are with you Yanks, Aussie’s and Brits shoulder to shoulder and back to back if necessary, all the way. God Bless our Troops and Diggers.

Beccy Cole has summed it all up for the average person. We aren’t in a position to judge but we all want peace at any cost. Hats off to our brothers and sisters in Aussie land for their friendship and bravery to fight in this terrorist war. Beccy you are marvelous for writing such a wonderful heartfelt song. I hope it is heard all over the world and that it will inspire all those who want peace to fight for it. God bless.

I am an American. I could not be prouder of Beccy’s song, and her tenacity to do what is right. Those who would criticise her for for her actions boggle my mind!
Why would anyone have a problem with this? She isn’t Hanoi Jane…. She’s a very gifted performer who is dedicated to raising the spirits of her Australian brothers who fearlessly fight this war and terrorism. They fight beside us…. they believe what we believe. I want this song. I wan’t her to be recognized for lifting these “diggers” spirits during a horrible time in thier lives. Send me her posters. I will put them up. She deserves better treatment than this!!

A wonderful song from a gutsy lady and precisely what our diggers need. One may not agree with the war but we all need to support our soldiers sent to do a difficult and dangerous task. I too am proud to be Australian.
